DIrector for the Future of Work - PMI Board
I am excited to announce that I will participate as a Board Member with the Ireland Chapter of PMI as the Future of Work Director.
As data, technology and AI make impacts on the Project Manager function, it is the perfect time to re-imagine and make an impact on how projects are delivered.
AI is automating mundane tasks, freeing up Project Managers to focus on the strategic, interpersonal, and creative aspects of their roles. By embracing this transformation, organizations can unlock new levels of efficiency, innovation, and success.
I believe that the technical advances will transform Project Managers into Project Leaders.
PMs will grow from the "how" of projects (planning, organizing, and controlling resources). They will be more heavily invested in the "why" and "what," inspiring and motivating individuals towards a shared vision and deliverable.
As AI takes over the functional aspects of project management, the emphasis shifts towards the human element. The Project Manager evolves into a Project Leader, a visionary who inspires and motivates towards achievement of shared goals. At a minimum the transformation involves:
- Strategic Vision and Alignment
- Collaboration and Communication
- Influence and Negotiation
- Team Building and Motivation
- Adaptability and Innovation
- Ethical Oversight
- The Symbiotic Relationship (between AI and human leadership).
The Project Manager is not obsolete; they are evolving into a more valuable and influential Leader, guided by the power of AI. In essence, they will influence and inspire people to achieve project success.
